Bmw - Clutch Cable - L=1510Mm - 32732324955

I was riding my 1990 BMW K75S back from the store and was nearly home when suddenly, the clutch started feeling strange... it had only about half the normal lever travel. Just as I pulled into my driveway, I pulled in the clutch one final time and the cable snapped. Well, after 25 years, I guess it was about time!

Anyway, when I received the new cable from 2WheelPros, I looked around on the 'net and found a video made by a European gentleman detailing its replacement (I've been working on bikes for years but you never know - sometimes it's the easy jobs that trip you up) and it didn't look too hard. So, I disconnected the old cable from the clutch arm, duct-taped the new cable to it, greased it up and pulled the new cable into place. "Sweet! I didn't have to pull the gas tank. This is gonna be easy!" Unfortunately, it wasn't quite as easy as the gentleman who made the video had made out.

Anyway, I ended up having to manually disengage the clutch and block it into position with a piece of 2x4 (the vid failed to show that part) in order to provide enough slack in the cable to connect it at the hand lever. Not too bad, but not nearly as easy as I had been led to believe and a third hand would have definitely come in handy. But, the cable was exactly as advertised on the website and came in about a week. I would say to allow yourself about an hour to replace it... unless you have an appropriate piece of lumber hanging around!
