2001 fourtrax 250 ex. Started to keep moving at idle, like the clutch would not disengage, it being centrifugal and would kill the engine when you stop. Also engine would have a knock just when you first hit the gas only, then quiet? Did it since we bought it (used). Removed engine front cover where the clutches are. Remove 3 bolt cover on centrifugal clutch To remove the centrifugal clutch you need a 24mm deep socket, socket wall can't be to thick. Use an impact wrench. You need a puller to remove the centrifugal clutch, a flat 3 slotted puller worked well. The clutch fell apart in 20 pieces, should be an assembly. Used a magnet to get the little pieces at the bottom of the engine through two oil passages. if you take out the sprag, from the drum make sure you put it back the same way don't flip it! It is a one way clutch. Reverse to assembly, replace the 18mm nut on clutch. Worked great and no more knock!
