Kawasaki - Gasket, Generator, Cover - 11061-0084

I was working on a 2006 Kawasaki KX450F. The stator gasket replacement was easy right up until I miss read the bolt tightnening specs. There is a huge difference between 87 in/lbs and 87 ft/lbs. Broke off a bolt. Luckily the local ACE hardware store had an identical bolt just silver. The final drive (sprocket) gasket was another story entirely. The collar that goes over the shaft between the gasket is a true PIA to get off. After I googled the heck out of it I found one forum where several people had the same problem and the solution was to take two pair of needle nose pliers to each side of the collar and severely work on it. It did eventually come out. My owners manual showed no retaining clip yet there was one and too was a little difficult to remove. Once it was out and the gasket was removed I realized I had not purchased the replacement kit and had only ordered the seal. Completely my error! And wouldn't you know the O-ring that goes around the shaft is what broke and was causing the leak. Good luck finding an O-ring that thin at your local auto parts store! I had to buy a complete kit to find one that was close. Two rides on it and no leaks so far. I'm sure it will go much easier if I ever have to replace them again.
