Polaris - Arm, Swing, Silver - 0454099-385

This repair ended up being difficult for me and I needed my Dad's help to finally get this done. I am 12 years old and not strong enough to turn some of the bolts. This was on a 2008 Polaris Outlaw 90.

The swing arm had split on both sides mostly because my brother and his buddy were riding double and jumping a lot.

Dad ordered a new one. When it arrived I took the rear end apart and removed the swing arm. You have to get it separated from the brake assembly to remove it and this is where I ran into problems. The two bolts that hold this on are very soft and the socket stripped them on the first try. We were able to hammer the socket on to one of them and using a longer extension get it to turn but it was very hard to remove. We had to file the 17mm bolt head down and hammer a 16MM socket on the other to get it to break free. Even then it was so tight that it took us a couple hours to get these bolts off and then back on with the new swing arm. If you are doing this I would recommend that you use an air wrench.

The swing arm does not come with the grease seat installed on the end and no way can you remove those from the other one. You will need to order these also.

The replacement has better cross-bracing and I hope we don't break it again.
