Installation Instructions and Repair Stories

James from Atlanta, GA Wednesday, April 24, 2013

I was in the process of putting an aftermarket slip on exhaust on my 2009 polaris rzr 800, most have stated that the seal for the muffler to the header pipe will need to be replaced upon changing the muffler.....well like most will do, I tried using the existing seal and it fell apart on me... So in order to take off a muffler from this vehicle, the whole header pipe along with the actual short header had to be removed.. I used vice grips to pull off the exhaust springs which was not fun, then had to adjust the exhaust using the adjusting rubber-footed posts....after adjusting all the way down then it would slide out far enough to pull out the pipe from existing muffler....after all was off the vehicle, I then put short header back on , then put the long header pipe back into place somewhat losely......with this new exhaust seal from 2wheelpros, I then put the seal on the header pipe and then very slowly and carefully slid the muffler onto the header pipe with new seal already in place (on male end of muffler/header connection).......was a very snug fit which is what you want.....then I tightened the muffler in place and after that I readjusted the angle of the long header pipe, thus making sure all gaskets were in place........fired her up and the seals that I had moved around and the new seal were smoking a little bit, the seals are made of super soft lead and I am assuming that some of the lead particulate was burning off....everything is good and no exhaust leaks.....thanks 2wheelpros....
