Triumph - Gasket, Starter, Cover - T1261104

Triumph Travails! Bought a like new 2002 Triumph 955i Daytona with only 2050 miles on it. The day the bike arrived I noticed about an inch of freeplay at the clutch lever!
I figured it just needed adjustment.... I adjusted at the cable end and maxed it out, so I went to the adjuster at the crankcase and maxed it out also! What the heck.... the clutch plates must be worn out already. So I thought, pulled the clutch cover to check the clutch discs and they all measured to new specs. Everything looked great except the lifter arm had what appeared to be accelerated wear on the push end. I ordered one from 2WheelPros, it arrived quickly, I installed it but no luck, same issue.

I have another 2002 Daytona, so I reluctantly pulled the clutch cover to compare, even swapping out parts between the two machines, but still no change!

I already compared the clutch cable lengths to rule out a faulty cable, but it turns out the solution is going to be a shorter cable! Apparently in the early runs of the revamped 955i Daytona, tolerances and parts assembled don't add up to perfect! This one left the factory with a cable already adjusted to the max!

SOLUTION: Option 1: Fabricate a spacer to slide into the existing adjustment ferrule. (Triumph actually made these years ago in the 60's-80's just for this issue!) OPTION 2: Obtain a shorter cable. I measured out what I needed and found one from a supplier in the UK, should be here in a few days.

So I ordered double gasket sets from 2Wheelpros, and will have both bikes buttoned up in a few days!
