Triumph - Sensor, Ignition, V, Grommet - T1290131

I purchased a really nice 2007 Triumph Bonneville a couple of year ago that hadn’t been run for a long, only 3 thousand mile on the bike. Went through the carbs., definitely needed cleaning. A intermittent stalling at stop began to occur, bike would start right back up.
Had the same thing happen to other bikes and vehicles in the past. Deduced it was the crank sensor. Adept Powersports was the only place I could find that had it in stock and at a good price. Installing it today, repair going well. I’ll know tomorrow how it works out.

I've had electrical problems all summer, which was largely due to a ignition sensor failing, a known problem with 06-07 bonnies. Thanks to a YouTube series, I discovered this is what was wrong. Tied a guide rope to the old sensor wire connector near the tank and fished it out (difficult), then routed the new sensor wire back up through the chassis (also difficult). Popped open the alternator cover, removed old gasket, cleaned debris, replaced with new sensor at 0.8mm clearance, put on new gasket, and put it back together. Seems the problem is now fixed!

I recently purchased a 2005 Triumph America with less than 3K miles in exceptional condition by every measure. Except for one problem. While cruising along, the bike would suddenly stall and backfire as if someone were turning the key on and off. Then it would resume running perfectly for any number of miles before repeating the process. I checked fuel flow, tank venting, electrical connections, etc., etc. Everything I could read on the Net pointed to the sensor.
I have installed it (not difficult but requires 2-3 hours minimum) and ridden the bike about 100 miles. Got a stall and backfire within 15 minutes, then it ran flawlessly for about 85 miles. Sooooooooo my problem may be fixed or not. Such is the life of the "shade tree" mechanic.
