Met at seller’s house. Walked me through all the goodies on the 04’ Tiger 955i.
I rode it from his place to Notary about 20 miles away. Great test ride!!

Noticed a couple drips of gas on the ground. Didn't think anything about it….until my commute home from the notary as proud owner!
Next thing I noticed, my left foot & leg is covered in fuel! Fuel continued to leak at EPIC proportions; turns out 2 qty. female plastic fuel connectors cracked. ***RECALL notice on this exact problem; my VIN# missed it by 300 units…***
Was going to buy OEM but didn’t want to replace plastic with plastic! Found chrome plated brass aftermarket fittings (connectors) that was a perfect fit. Replaced the O-rings on the existing plastic male connectors and the fuel pump plate gasket (seal). Since then, bike runs great!
"This potentially gave me a new meaning to blowing up a bike."

Changed air filter, fuel filter and plugs on 03 Triumph Sprint ST, easy job, awkward to fit tank back on because of hoses, beware when connecting the fuel hoses back on, do the red one last, as I had to turn the hose slightly when it was connected and snapped off the nylon connection at the thread, replacement part on order.

So I pick up this triumph 02 955i RS with less then 6000mi on it for a song, right! or so I thought...ugh! The story went that the prior owner was a bit afraid of the ol gal and let it sit WITH ABOUT A GALLON OF FUEL IN IT (so just enough to cause untold havoc on the fuel system) when I bought it I had know idea the shape of the inside of the tank and all that lie within, of corse, until about two hours later, this is after I got it back to my workspace. After about 10-15hrs of hard core chemicals, sand paper and a lot of bad noise from the wife got her all back together with all the new parts listed, she fired right up ran like new bike for about 10 mins (I am now very, very happy) and then just died and would not start again (now very, very sad,what a roller coster of emotions). All back apart, AGAIN! tank assembly/fuel system all back apart (B/C-the fuel pump was not coming on and had power at the plug on the side of the tank key on, test light goes on, fuel pump does not!) Bench tested the pump (at the pump directly with a 12v bench setup), she comes right on so I run it backwards to see if anything comes out of it, nothing! Back to the hunt, I hook it all back up to test the circuit from the plug on the plate to the pump and BANG! thier it is! no power at the pump from the plug, hummmmmm???? immediately, I found the problem, it was the connector on the backside of the plug inside the tank (called the fuel pump fly lead) after a much closer inspection the tabs on the terminal inside the plug housing had rusted away, intermittently causing the pump to stop working! Probably had the tank out and in about 20 times and completely disassembled at least trice, lol. Anyway it runs perfect now. All the parts were exactly right fit perfect and got my project back to working order. Afterthought, I could have never known that terminal had found itself in such a state the moral of this story is next time I found myself elbows deep in the heart of an extremely mis cared for Triumph just replace the $15 connector even if it looks ok, why chance it...?
