Triumph - Seal, Mntg, Plate, Fuel, Pump, (14, Hole, Plate) - T1241054

My fuel pump went out on my '06 Triumph 955i tiger so I had to get a gasket and a fuel pump and switch it out. Took out 14 nuts. Put a little sealer behind the gasket. Not much. Just enough my finger. I put the gasket back on after putting the pump in. Put it back in place and tightened all the nuts down to 9nm which for you guys that don't know which I didn't know is about 6 and 1/2 lb.

2006 Triumph Tiger 955i. Ordered this gasket per the service manual directive to use a new one when reinstalling the fuel pump plate, which must be removed to replace the fuel filter. Since I had the tank off to balance the throttle bodies, I decided to replace the fuel filter prior to this new gasket arriving. Upon doing so, I examined the original gasket and was confident that it was fit for reuse. These gaskets are made of thick, durable rubber-like material, and with the ~50 inch pounds of torque on each of the 14 bolts around the perimeter of the plate, my logic suggested a leak would be highly unlikely. So, I bolted everything back together using my original gasket, and now 400 miles later have yet to see any sign of leaking. My brand new replacement gasket now awaits its future call to duty.

I got rid of the plastic clips on my triumph speed triple used brass fittings and pipe dope it was leaking around the threads still so I used jb weld and now its perfectly fine

Enter the fuel pump in the tank. Seek the plate shape and give some pressure to enter the tank

Met at seller’s house. Walked me through all the goodies on the 04’ Tiger 955i.
I rode it from his place to Notary about 20 miles away. Great test ride!!

Noticed a couple drips of gas on the ground. Didn't think anything about it….until my commute home from the notary as proud owner!
Next thing I noticed, my left foot & leg is covered in fuel! Fuel continued to leak at EPIC proportions; turns out 2 qty. female plastic fuel connectors cracked. ***RECALL notice on this exact problem; my VIN# missed it by 300 units…***
Was going to buy OEM but didn’t want to replace plastic with plastic! Found chrome plated brass aftermarket fittings (connectors) that was a perfect fit. Replaced the O-rings on the existing plastic male connectors and the fuel pump plate gasket (seal). Since then, bike runs great!
"This potentially gave me a new meaning to blowing up a bike."
